Email Composer allows you the flexibility to place your unsubscribe links and to style them to suit your branding. Unless you are working in a Transactional Cccount, you must have at least one unsubscribe link in order to publish.
By default an unsubscribes link will be included in the footer of your Composer documents whenever they are created as New Emails, however you may occasionally need to add a new one or update an existing link.
Load in a previously used Footer Block
If you're wanting to avoid the hassle, use an already established Footer block:
- Find a previous document that contains a suitable Footer block and valid Unsubscribe Link
- Edit the document and click on the Footer Block to see the editor window
- Click on the 'Save to Content Library' and save the block under a unique name
- Head to your current email document, and Load in the block
- Add an empty section to the document
- Click on the centre arrow to select a Saved block to load in.
Placing a new unsubscribe link
This method will show you how to add in a pre-validated Global Unsubscribe link.
Clicking this link from the inbox will give the recipient an 'Unsubscribe Stamp' in the Mail House.
- Place your cursor where you want the unsubscribe link to sit in your Article block.
If you are replacing an old unsubscribe link, simply highlight the existing unsubscribe text.
- Click the Link button in the text editor.
This will open up the Links Menu
- Scroll down to find the Unsubscribe link option (near the bottom of the list)
- Update the Link Text as desired, and then click to insert the Unsubscribe link.
The unsubscribe link will be added as a clickable Hyperlink, unique for each recipient.
IMPORTANT: Never copy/paste Unsubscribe links into your documents. Always insert via the Link Menu or by 'Loading in' a 'Saved' footer block.
- Unsubscribe links are often personalised to the recipient. Copy/pasting a personalised URL can expose personal data that is on the page (i.e. email address).
