Checkboxes are a great way of allowing event registrants to select multiple options. They are simply recorded in your event registrant's list as either yes or no values.
To create these options, you will need to access form builder > click into form widget > add fields.
NOTE: Any text-type field intended to be used as checkboxes in the registration form, should not house any contact data. Reason being, any loaded data will not display in the form if it has been pre-populated, as the only valid values for checkboxes are yes or no.
Applying checkboxes to the form
- You will need to go to the Form builder editor in EventsDesk.
- Once the form has loaded, select the fields that will be used to capture your invitees details or add new fields if required using the add field button.
- The checkbox option will only appear for fields that are categorised as text-type
- It's time to convert the text-type fields into checkboxes. Do this by going to the dropdown for your respective fields > select checkbox in the dropdown.
What happens next?
Once you've completed the process of converting the format of your text-fields from a default single line to a checkbox, it's time to make a decision on how you will present these checkboxes.
One way of doing this would be to rename your fields. Renaming a field in the form builder will not affect the mail house's field name. This is solely a cosmetic change.
An example of this is the Swift Digital Training Calendar's checkbox options, whereby users are asked which modules they would like to be trained on.
The fields are being used as checkboxes, and a paragraph is being used to ask the question.
How do I get this information when registrations are taking place?
As registrations begin to flow by the hour, it's imperative that you are able to find the information registrants' are filling in. This is done via the registrations tab.
To ensure all fields related to the event are displayed, go to edit view. Do this by clicking the icon.
In edit view you are required to select the fields via the <add column> dropdown.
Once saved through, all the relevant details should display.
As you can see, if a guest selects the modules they want to sign up for training it will reflect Yes and any unselected modules will appear as No.
