Yes, you can edit a document that has been Published. However, who will see the change, and how will it affect the Report?
If you have published an email with a mistake you can make changes to the Web Version that will appear on the Internet, but the version already received to a persons inbox cannot be tampered with.
IMPORTANT: Do not 're-purpose' a published document!
If you'd like to create a similar email, make sure to Clone it - to preserve the original documents Report.
Will edits be seen by people who have already received the email to their inbox?
No. Edits performed after publishing will NOT affect an email someone already has in their Inbox.
Will people be able to access the newly edited version?
Yes - IF the email already has a 'View Online' link, then all previous recipients will have access to the Web Version to see the current state of the document.
The Web Version of the email document will show the 'current' state of the document, including any edits made after publishing.
How will edits affect the document Report?
As soon as a document is Published, a Report will be generated. Depending on what is edited, the Report may be impacted.
Minor Text editing:
- No impact on the Report
Editing/Changing a Link: Non-reversible
- The old Link and its Click data will still be visible in the Report. Previous recipients will still have access to the old Link if they had received the email prior to editing.
- An additional Link (the newly edited version) will be added to the report and will begin tracking clicks.
Editing Article Tags:
- Article Tags can be applied/removed at any time.
- Reporting statistics for Article Tags will update accordingly.
Editing Images: Non-reversible
- The old Image and its Click data will still be available in the Report. Previous recipients will still have access to the old Image if they had received the email prior to editing.
- An additional Image (the new version) will be added to the report and will begin tracking clicks, if a Link it attached.
How to Edit a Published Document
To Edit your web version go to your Email Composer document, and access the document's editor. A prompt will ask you if you would like to proceed to make changes to a published email - noting that certain edits may affect the document Report. Click YES to proceed to the editor.
This will allow you to edit the published version of the email and fix up your typos that remain visible in the web version of your email.
