Target Query: How do I segment my list by date?

The Target Query function enables you to create a mail group based on specified criteria. You can now segment your list by applying the date field across 2 criteria. 

Swift Digital's approved format for all date fields in the Mail House is DD/MM/YYYY. 

ADD A FIELD VALUE RULE

Setting a field value rule that relies on a custom field specifically created for Dates.  



Below are the different operands that can be use for this field type: 

  • Equals:

    • Description: Matches the exact date specified.

    • Example: Records with a date equal to January 1, 1970.

  • Before:

    • Description: Matches dates that are earlier than the specified date.

    • Example: Records with a date before January 1, 1970.

  • On or before:

    • Description: Matches dates that are earlier than or exactly on the specified date.

    • Example: Records with a date on or before January 1, 1970.

  • After:

    • Description: Matches dates that are later than the specified date.

    • Example: Records with a date after January 1, 1970.

  • On or after:

    • Description: Matches dates that are later than or exactly on the specified date.

    • Example: Records with a date on or after January 1, 1970.

  • Is blank:

    • Description: Matches records where the date field is empty or null.

    • Example: Records with no date entered.

  • Is not blank:

    • Description: Matches records where the date field contains a value.

    • Example: Records with any date entered

  • Date Range:

    • Description: Records where the date field matches the from and to date range set by the user.

    • Example: January 1, 1950 - December 31, 1970.

 

ADD AN ACTIVITY RULE: 
Activity rules are dependent on your contacts' response to emails and surveys you have sent out. The statuses: sent, opened, unopened, clicked, subscribed, unsubscribed, hard bounced and soft bounced are based on emails.

However, opened, clicked and subscribed can be used to create target queries in landing pages. Opened in landing pages represents visits in a landing page report.

Submitted is survey specific. It refers to contacts who have submitted a response to a selected survey.
Recipients whose (Custom Date Field) can be selected after the Activity of the contacts. 
The different operand that can be used for it and the date picker where you can select specific dates or do a date range for it. 

 

After creating your Date Query, you can choose to add it as a New or Existing Mail Group so you can export it or publish emails for this list only. You can refer to this guide for it.
